;login: Enters a New Phase of Its development
For over twenty years, ;login: happens to be a printing mag with a electronic version; into the 2 decades past, it had been USENIX’s publication, UNIX Information. Since its inception 45 years back, this has offered being a medium by which the USENIX community learns about helpful tools, research, and activities from 1 another. Starting in 2021, ;login: will not end up being the formally posted printing magazine as we’ve understood it of late, but alternatively reimagined being a publication that is digital increased possibilities for interactivity among writers and visitors.
Since USENIX became an access that is open of documents in 2008, ;login: has remained our only content behind a membership paywall. All;login: content will be open to everyone when we make this change in keeping with our commitment to open access. But, just USENIX users in the sustainer degree or more, in addition to pupil people, may have exclusive use of the interactivity choices. Rik Farrow, the present editor regarding the mag, continues to offer leadership for the overall content offered in ;login:, that will be released via our site on a normal basis over summer and winter.
We are forming an editorial committee of volunteers from throughout the USENIX community to curate content, meaning that this will be a formally peer-reviewed publication as we plan to launch this new format.
